Overview

The theme of our college “ WORD IS HEALING” is the art and heart of our work. Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery mainly deals with facial trauma, esthetic correction of facial deformities, major surgical procedures like management of oral cancer, tumours of the jaws and the face and minor oral surgical procedures including surgical removal of impacted teeth, apicoectomy , excisional biopsies etc. We are routinely performing all aspects esthetic surgery including Orthognathic surgeries, rhinoplasty,occuloplasty,cleft lip & palate repair, scar revision. We are fortunate to have an active 24 hrs casuality in Mar Baselios Medical Mission Hospital. Our contribution to research field include ‘Hybrid Implant’, conceived, designed , developed and patented by Dr Varghese Mani. workshops exclusively for ‘hybrid implant’, where conducted in our college.

Delegates got hands-on experience, placing the implant. Every year the department organises ‘STOMA’ and ‘FACE’, which provide a common platform for surgeons to gain knowledge on contemporary treatment procedures, also to share the same. Under the ‘guiding light’, our Dean Prof. Dr. Varghese Mani; our departmenthas grown par excellence.

In its short but very significant twenty years, Mar Baselios Dental College has always kept its pace with time. Conducting scientific proceedings and publishing its contents have become routine and seems beneficial for updating the knowledge. Orthognathic surgery- a panacea for the disfigurement has already evolved as a speciality and expanding its wings. Centre for Craniofacial and Aesthetic surgery is a brainchild of this reputed institution. It is devoted to correction of craniofacial deformities such as cleft lip and palate, craniofacial syndromes like crouzon’s, Aperts’s and other facial deformities like ankylosis of TMJ and facial asymmetries.
