SUSMITHAM 2026 – One historic milestone reached. Many lives changed for the better. The Department of Prosthodontics successfully conducted SUSMITHAM 2026, its flagship community outreach initiative, providing 141 economically disadvantaged elderly beneficiaries with free complete dentures. In an extraordinary demonstration of clinical excellence and meticulous teamwork, a treatment that conventionally requires a minimum of five clinical visits was completed within 24 hours, enabling elderly patients to receive their dentures with minimal inconvenience.
Organized in collaboration with YMCA and Y’s Men International, SUSMITHAM 2026 brought together faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students, interns, dental technicians, and volunteers in a remarkable example of academic excellence blended with compassionate community service.
The program gained national recognition by earning a spot in the India Book of Records for delivering the most free complete dentures at one location in 24 hours. Mr. Vivek S. Nair, the official adjudicator, presented the provisional certificate.The Felicitation Ceremony was inaugurated by Sri V. E. Abdul Gafoor, Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Government of Kerala. The function was presided over by Mr. Vincent P. P., Vice President, Mar Baselios Medical Mission Association. H.G. Elias Mor Yulios, Metropolitan of the Kothamangalam Region, delivered the Benedictory Address, while Rev. Fr. Saju Kureeckapillil, Vicar, Marthoma Cheriapally, and Mr. Salim Cherian, Secretary, Mar Baselios Medical Mission Association, addressed the gathering. Prof. Dr. Byju Paul Kurian, Principal, presented the project overview and highlighted the social significance of SUSMITHAM. The guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Litto Manuel, Professor, Department of Prosthodontics, and the programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Jinsa P. Devassy, Associate Professor, Department of Prosthodontics.
