The Anti-Ragging Awareness Workshop held on October 28, 2023, at the Audio Visual Hall of Mar Baselios Dental College was an enlightening event aimed at addressing the critical issue of ragging in educational institutions. The event commenced punctually at 10:00 AM with a promising agenda.The inaugural session began with a prayer, setting a tone of solemnity and unity.Dr. Byju Paul Kurian, the esteemed Principal of the college, delivered a warm welcomeaddress, emphasizing the importance of fostering a safe and inclusive environment for allstudents.Advocate C I Baby, Secretary of the MBMM Association, then delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the institution’s commitment to eradicating ragging and ensuring a nurturing educational space.Dr. Mohammed Sagir, a Member of the Dental Council of India, illuminated the audience on the Dental Council’s role in maintaining a policy of zero tolerance towards ragging.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked a symbolic commitment to dispelling the darkness of ragging. Following the inaugural segment, the workshop delved into crucial sessions. Bijoy P. T., C I of Police, addressed the severity of penal punishments associated with ragging complaints, enlightening attendees on the legal repercussions and strict measures in place to curb such activities. Advocate Johny Methippara navigated through legal codes and the legal consequences pertaining to ragging, providing a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework surrounding such misconduct.Dr. Jayan Jacob Mathew, the IQAC Coordinator, extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the speakers, organizers, and attendees for their participation and commitment to fighting against ragging. The workshop concluded on a poignant note with the rendition of the National Anthem, a symbol of unity and national pride. This workshop served as a pivotal platform to educate and create awareness among students, faculty, and administrative bodies regarding the consequences and legalities associated with ragging. It reinforced the collective commitment towards a safer and more supportive educational ecosystem, free from the menace of ragging. The collaborative efforts of the speakers, organizers, and attendees encapsulated the determination to foster a culture of respect, empathy, and non-violence within the academic community. The impact of this workshop is expected to resonate and manifest in the daily practices and policies within the college, contributing to a safer and more harmonious environment for all its members.

Mar Baselios Dental College, Kotham angalam, in association with Dental Council of India organized an .oAnti-Ragging Orientation Programme’o on Thursday, March 30,h, 2023 at A. V. Hall. The program started with a brief inaugural ceremony. Dr. Byju paul Kurian, principal, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Aseem Hassali, Member of DCI inaugurated the function and explained DCI’s role in zero tolerance towards ragging. Mr.V. I. paulose, Sub Inspector of Police, Kotham angalam Police station took a detailed session on punishments under Indian Penal Code and its severity upon complaints of ragging. Adv.M. s. Ajith talked about the legal codes and punishments with respect to ragging. Dr Jayan Jacob Mathew, Professor, Department of Periodontics, proposed the vote of thanks. First year and second year BDS students and faculty members attended.

Mar Baselios Dental College Kothamangalam, in association with the Dental Council of India, organised an “Anti-Ragging” workshop on Tuesday, October 13th, 2022 at the college Audio Visual Hall. The program started with a brief inaugural ceremony.Dr.Jayan Jacob Mathew, IQAC Coordinator,welcomed the gathering.Dr.Byju Paul Kurian, Principal delivered the principals address, where he mentioned institutional policies in adhering to national level guidelines and urged studets not indulge in any form of ragging related menace in the campus. Mr Binu Kaipillil, Vice President of Mar Baselios Medical Mission Association, presided over the function. Dr. Binu Purushothaman, Member Dental Council of India, inaugurated the function.The program was scheduled in three sessions. Dr.Binu Purushothaman took the first session on the topic: Dental Council of India’s role in zero tolerance towards ragging and explained dental councils view on the menace of ragging with special focus on measures taken at various levels against ragging. Dr. Shaji K Joseph Member of, the Dental Council of India, inaugurated the function and explained the dental council’s view on the menace of ragging with a special focus on measures taken at various levels against ragging. Mr. Dileep P S, Sub-Inspector of Police, Kothamangalam, highlighted the importance of abstaining from indulging in ragging of any form. Adv. P M Eldho detailed the various legal aspects of the issue of ragging. Dr. Joby Paulose, Department of Orthodontics, proposed the vote of thanks. Parents of 1st year and 2nd year BDS students and faculty members attended the program.
