The Department of Oral Pathology And Microbiology was started in the year 2002. The Histopathology lab and the Haematology lab with full fledged facilities have been functioning from the year 2006 onwards. In the year 2010, State conference (Kerala Society of Oral Pathology) was conducted by the department. The department recently got approval for the PG course (Oral Pathology and Microbiology). The practice of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other investigations. The department trains the students in clinical diagnosis, histopathology, cytology and Immunohistochemistry. The Department renders its services in diagnosing head and neck pathologies not only for the home institution, but also for others institutions in other parts of Kerala. The department is supported by the medical and dermatology Departments of Mar Baselios Medical Mission Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Kothamangalam.
